GROWING "THE GAME"

GROWING "THE GAME"

Soccer holds a special place in many of our hearts. It’s given us so much in life—friendships, memories, and the occasional heartbreak. It’s what makes sports, sports; it’s what makes soccer, soccer. But how, or why, does GIVE&GO fit into this equation?

For the 99% of us who aren’t professional footballers, our connection with the game happens elsewhere—in the stands, in our homes, at the pub, or on our phones. We fall in love with the sport, no doubt, but sometimes we fall out of love with it too. It’s an interesting tension to reflect on and serves as the foundation for what we’re trying to build with GIVE&GO: fun and connection through the game.

There’s something magical about the free-flowing nature of the game—the moments of brilliance that often go unnoticed, a love language needing no words, a force that transcends borders as effortlessly as a breath of fresh air. If the field is your home, then the ball is your universe, something you can carry with you wherever you go.

The first time we played GIVE&GO, we were just a group of friends hanging out, talking about soccer and life. Naturally, when you’re with your footy friends, you talk about life, then footy, then work, and then footy again. For some, footy is work and life (lucky you!), but for most of us, it’s a shared passion—a source of memories to recount and knowledge to share.

That October night in 2023, we were just friends sitting cross-legged in a circle, talking about the game we love. It took us back to our U12 days, when nothing mattered but the ball and our dreams. Those scraps of paper brought newfound joy and perspective to the game, creating a safe space for us to learn, share, and laugh together.

As we think about what we’re building and why, it’s essential to keep human connection at the core. "The Game" wasn’t created to distract from the bonds being formed but to enhance the memories being made.

For us, this is what makes soccer unique. This is why this game is different. And this is what drives us to create a new way to engage with the beautiful game.
