A Night to Remember

A Night to Remember

A few weeks ago, we hosted our first game night with The Football Boutique in Los Angeles, California. The Founder, Tony, reached out a few months ago interested in stocking our game and hosting an event.

Fast forward 3 months, and his new brick and mortar store in the heart of LA was the first time we were hitting the west coast to play and share the game.

After weeks of preparation and some amazing support from Tony and his team, we touched down in LA on Friday, July 26th and zipped over to The Football Boutique to begin preparations.

The beauty of GIVE&GO is that you can take it Wherever You Go. We were fortunate to be in an amazing, soccer-themed space, but the truth is there was very little preparation or costs associated with setting up a smashing event/game night.

We printed a few t-shirts, a poster board for our community to sign, and slapped a pack of GIVE&GO in the "living room". As people started to arrive, we gathered a few eager gamers, shuffled the deck, and started drawing cards.

Leading up to the event, we had put together some notes on how best to run the night. We ended up throwing them out the door because the ultimate success was seeing how people reacted organically and naturally.

We hung out, played for hours, and then reflected on the evening. Here were our key takeaways to keep in mind for next time:

High Level: GIVE&GO was built on the belief that if we can bring people together and create a safe space to have fun, learn, and share our stories, we can achieve something that has never been done before in the footy community.

💯 Quality > Quantity: We didn’t host the largest event in soccer history, but the quality of conversation created a fun and memorable environment for all. Create a space so people can listen.

🤝 The People Matter: Everyone in the room was accepting of each other and willing to share intimate stories. Create a space so people can share.

🎉 Have Some Fun: If you have fun, everything else will follow. Create a space where fun is at the center of everything you do.

🔎 Stay Curious: Be open to learning new things and sharing new perspective. Create a space so people leave with new information and inspiration.

With that, we hope this provides some insight into how we plan on growing our game, and the game of footy one step at a time. We're excited to host more game nights across the country, so stay tuned!
